The gondola ride is pretty much a must do in Venice. We went round the canals and it was nice to have the gondola to ourselves and be able to take pictures. Although the trip round the canals was nice we didn't see any of the "touristy places" and the location to meet was further away than we realised. It was an alright Gondola ride can't complain but I'd recommend checking if you want to specifically see certain things and where it is in relation to your location.
