10 min - While standing in the courtyard as your guide will introduce you to the Doges Palace architecture and history, see and learn about the Giant Staircase leading up to the Palace and used for formal entrances.
Walk over the famous Bridge of Sighs connecting the Doge's Palace to the Prisons and learn why it was given this name.
5 min - Learn about the Main entrance of the Doges Palace, the paper door that links the Doges Palace to St Mark's Basilica.
30 min - We'll discuss the famous landmarks of St. Mark's square, you'll enjoy an in-depth tour of St. Mark's Basilica, to admire the astonishing interior covered in rich and lavish mosaics and you'll learn about the strong Byzantine influences on the city that helped Venice realize its own unique style of architecture.
During the tour you will also see the beautiful San Zacharia's church (exterior only), set in a quiet square, with its rich façade, a blend of gothic and renaissance style.
5 min - Admire from outside the Renaissance S. Maria Formosa church built on the site of a former 7th century church. The name "formosa" refers to an apperance of Holy Virgin in the form of a voluptuous woman.
Cross Ponte del Paradiso bridge and enter a typical Hidden Venice alley "calle" to admire examples of Byzantine and Gothic architecture.

Very knowledgeable and passionate local guide. Provides a great introduction to Venice. Guide brings you to less well-known neighborhoods so you see a side of Venice not many people see.
The tour itself was fine -but the viator confirmed time was not accurate. I called the actual Guide agency - fortunately- to confirm our time and was told that Viator had made an error. They could not provide a guide for us at the time we wanted and had been promised, but we could do it at a different time with one guide for the first half and another for the second half. This change meant that we could not do the Murano glass tour offered by our hotel. So the guides were very good and the sights marvelous, but no thanks to Viator.
