Wonderful family walking tour full of fascinating history and science

Wonderful family walking tour full of fascinating history and science. Denise did a great job telling us stories in a way that worked well for both grandparents and grandchildren.
Loved this Tour

Our guide was terrific. She was knowledgeable, passionate about Venice (native Venetian) and absolutely delightful to spend the morning with. Every member of the group felt tge same way. Tour was a nice “get to know Venice.”
Big up Denise

Our favorite tour in Italy!
OUsoonergirl, 21-12-2022
Out of all the tours we did in Italy, this was probably our favorite. Denise was a great guide and had a way of explaining the history in an interesting and engaging way that never lost our interest. Plus we wound through the back streets that we never would have ventured to seeing way more than we would have. This is completely different than the major sites tour and we got information about Venice that we would have never known. Highly recommend to add this to your first day!
Excellent introduction to the city and its society
Anthony T, 20-12-2022
The greatest value in this walking introduction to Venice is its guide: Denise is a Venetian native (one of the few remaining on the island) whose admiration of the island’s old republic and pride in her Venetian heritage shine through in the passion with which she enthusiastically shares her knowledge of Venice’s societal and architectural history.
Despite all the glam of this city, it’s heavy orientation towards tourism has driven out many Venetians from the island whose families have been here for generations. The risk is high of seeing a gilded Venice (much like their famous carnival masks) without seeing the real face of the city. With this tour, Denise offers you the opportunity to look through that gilded mask with Venetian eyes.
A great tour for anyone wanting an introduction to the real Venice that has attracted travellers for centuries (and not the so-called Venice of overpriced shops and tourist traps).
Good

First thing to do in Venice

We like to do a walking tour upon arrival to a new city to get general info and the feeling first. We are totally happy with the tour since Denise did a great job with her positiveness and well arranged info on most popular spots. Well suggested if you look for the highlights of the city

Denise did great job. She went far and beyond explaining those little details that only a Venetian would. Very kind and patient. Always helping and willing to answer any question

Insight from a very knowledgeable local
F4858KJthomasc, 01-01-2023
Denise provided us with an insightful tour that covered a mix of Venice history, daily life today, and literally the ground that it sits on and the water that surrounds and defines it. She has the perspective of a life long Venetian, and was able to answer every question. I particularly enjoyed learning about the interactions among the Catholic church, wealthy merchants and the leadership of Venice. I highly recommend this excursion. (My only suggestion, and this is directed to TripAdvisor, not Denise or the tour company, is that the departure location and meeting point should be on the e-ticket. Internet access can be limited in Venice, and as a result I had trouble accessing my booking in the app .)
Pretty Good

The tour guide was very charismatic and had a lot of great insights and really drew us in.
Also the group wasn't too big so it wasn't too impersonal and we were all engaged
